Enemies of the National Zoo
"In the fall of 2009, Enemies of the National Zoo formed in a Washington, DC neighborhood called Cleveland Park, place where they still practice. From the first session, the band looked to write music each member enjoyed, a potentially difficult task given their diverse array of musical influences. Despite influences ranging from alt. country, blues, hip-hop, post-punk, and world music, the creative process has been one of relative ease, with most of the material resulting from some sort of free form jam and almost all songs written during practice. The result of this ongoing experiment is a truly original sound that is quintessentially D.C" Performing Live Every Wednesday

Suspicious Package
Suspicious Package is (L-R) Tom Toles, Josh Meyer, Christina Sevilla, Tim Burger, and Bryan Greene.
Long-rumored in existence but kept tightly shrouded in the secrecy of Tom Toles’ basement, Suspicious Package finally exploded onto the Washington, DC music scene in May 2008 with their sell-out premiere performance at the Red and the Black in DC’s Atlas District. They’ve since performed at the Rock and Roll Hotel, DC9, the National Press Club, the Hard Rock Café, the embassies of Finland, Italy, Denmark, and Germany, Andrews Air Force Base, the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier in New York City harbor, and other venues.
Suspicious Package plays a mix of rock, blues, punk, funk, pop, zydeco, and originals. Pulitzer prize-winning Washington Post political cartoonist Toles drives the rhythm of Suspicious Package on drums and vocals, former TIME and Bloomberg correspondent Tim Burger plays bass, with L.A. Times’ national security correspondent Josh Meyer on lead guitar and vocals.
